At Baker Dental Group our Surgery is modern and purpose built with the latest hygiene and sterilising equipment, Digital X-Rays and Hi-caps.

We have completed an Accreditation Process to ensure we are operating at the highest level of infection control. This ensures we stay up to date with the latest practice and sterilizing techniques

The cost of an initial consultation may vary depending on the need for x-rays. Cleaning may also be needed during the first appointment. When making your appointment or talking with the dentist and hygienist please feel free to ask about the cost of a procedure or request a written quote for work required.

We offer Saturday and Wednesday evening appointments.

Our Team

Dr Chris Xu

Dr Chris Xu is known for his compassion and gentleness towards his patients, helping his patients to achieve a better life with a happier smile. Obtained his dental degree from the University of Sydney with Honours, Chris has worked in a number of leading dental practices/hospitals with Australia’s leading dentists and specialists, which allowed him to gain valuable experiences and exposures in all facets of dentistry.

Dr Chris Xu has a wide exposure to dentistry including porcelain veneers, crowns/bridges, wisdom teeth extraction, root canal treatments and emergency care. He has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and the management of sleep apnoea. He brings together his knowledge of cosmetic and restorative dentistry and close attention to detail to produce the finest possible treatments suitable for each individual. Chris will be please to assist you along whether it is the natural down to earth smile or the Hollywood glamour that you are looking for.

Chris was previously appointed as visiting dental officer to the Children’s Hospital Westmead. He has also successfully completed the Primary Examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Outside the surgery, Chris enjoys spending time with his son, reading, good food and as a volunteer with many organisations.

Dr John Shimm

 Graduated fromthe University of Western Australia with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2017, Johnhas been a part of the Baker Dental team since October 2019.

 John has studied a Master of Science(Research by Thesis) and a Bachelor of Health Science in Traditional ChineseMedicine prior to doing his degree of Dentistry at the University of WesternAustralia. Prior to his move to Parkes John worked in Perth, Cairns and PortStephens expanding his skill set in general dentistry. In 2019 John cameto Baker Dental for locum work, but after the relationships he was developingwith patients he decided to commit long term.

 John is passionate about helping everypatient reach their optimal oral health by providing comprehensive treatments. Hehopes to achieve this by adopting a caring and gentle approach, thus allowingpatients to feel less nervous when they are on a dental chair. Along with akeen eye for detail he is competent in all aspects of general dentistry with a specialinterest in prosthodontics and root canal treatments. John undergoes professional development courses and on-goingtraining to ensure he is able to provide the best possible up-to-date treatmentfor his patients.

 Outside of dentistry, John likes tospend time reading, listening to classical music and going out with his familyand friends.

Education from a hygienist is the key to keeping your teeth healthy

Jemima Plumridge

Graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2010 with a Bachelor of Oral Health, Jemima has been a part of the team at Baker Dental since 2011.

Never has the saying “prevention is better than cure” been more appropriate than in the dental context. As a practice we place great importance not only on preventing dental and oral disease, but in looking after restorations so that they last as long as possible. Jemima is at the forefront of this philosophy as the practice’s dental hygienist.

Jemima provides a high standard of oral health services and education to our patients. In addition to her University studies Jemima stays up to date with current research and oral hygiene products by undergoing professional development courses. Jemima also practises at a general practise in Orange and an orthodontic clinic in Bathurst, where she performs de-banding of braces and fixed wire applications.

She takes the trust of her patients very seriously and the relationships she builds.

Outside of dentistry Jemima undertakes a lot of other study, including community service where she has gained her certificate 4 and is now undergoing her diploma. She enjoys doing recreational activities with her Daughter, karate and Muay Thai where she is an assistant instructor for children.
